Well, life was getting back to normal and everyone was feeling better. A and I were sick the longest but we were fairly over it by yesterday. So we looked forward to the week starting normal for first time in 3 weeks. Of course, that's not how it's going to work... Last night, I took my Ambien and then the boys and I laid down in living room to watch Transformers. A fell asleep right away. Around midnight, he woke up screaming and crying and totally uncomfortable. He said his ear hurt so bad. Poor guy couldn't sit still cause it was so bad. Well, we know this route. This is an ear infection and how it almost always starts for him. The only thing missing was the fever. He still has his tubes from a year ago so we were not completely shocked (though I was overly worried) by the draining that began in his ear. We gave him motrin and called the nurse. Well, by time nurse called back, he had fallen asleep again, so she told us to let him sleep and to take him to Urgent Care clinic today. Let me just say, Thank Goodness we are back in states! I love that there is more than one option for doctor care on a Sunday. We went to the Urgent Care that we have gone to once before. It is an effective place but very Ghetto....it looks dingy and dirty and the waiting area is always overcrowded without any thought to the spread of the germs that come and go. ICK! But it was the only one I knew the exact location for. So, we got in there and signed in and were informed that it would be a 3 hour wait. Double ICK. I called B (who was at home doing the cleaning I had planned for the superbowl get together we had) and had him look up the urgent care clinics and he found me one not too far from where I was that had way less people in it. A and I went there and found it to be ALOT cleaner and alot more concerned about the spread of germs. Everywhere we turned there was a bottle of hand sanitizer or a box of facial masks. I will be going there for future urgent needs....
Anyway, back on the track of things. A does have an ear infection. From the sound of it, a fairly nasty one too. Doc was insistent that I call first thing tomorrow and make him an appointment to be seen at end of the week. She put him on Zithromax (the only antibiotic that fully cures his infections) and sent us on our way.
So, tomorrow, I will be spending the day with him on the couch relaxing and recupperating. I have contemplated sending him to school since he never had a fever with this, but I think the school would have an issue with the draining that his ear is continuing to do. It's quite a messy affair. :(

Seriously, that much drainage? That sounds horrible. I hope you get an appointment rather quickly and he feels better soon.
That is not good. Drainage? I've heard of it, but haven't had to experience it yet...icky. Hope he's feeling better soon!!
