Well, this has been one hectic week. It started with Monday, around 1030, I got a call from my mother in law. She informs me that B's father has been in an accident at his transmission shop. He was under a car that was up on jackstands and the jackstand apparently wasn't holding proper part of car. The car fell from the stand and hit him in the face. B's brother called 911 and got the car off of dad. They rushed him to hospital where they did all sorts of xrays and scans and later moved him to Iowa City from their small town. Iowa City has more equipment and is better able to handle more complex injuries, I believe. Once there, the docs informed the family that dad's eye socket was partially crushed and that his cheekbone is broken. That is all. His brain and neck and all other vital parts are fine. This is totally shocking and wonderful news! God really protected him! We are all so very thankful that he will be fine and around for alot longer. B still flew out to see him and help him out with recovery and his 13 year old brother.
The docs had to wait for swelling in the eye socket to go down to do repairs so dad went into surgery on Friday and is now home resting and healing. Thank the Lord!!! B will be home tomorrow and he is VERY thankful that he was able to spend time with dad and help him out. Even if it meant leaving our very comfortable weather and living in the snow and ice that he hates so much for a week......
