Exciting, yet oddly frustrating....

So, as so many of you know, last year's Kindergarten teacher landed on most parent's poop list. Well, if she was only on there in pencil before, she is now on mine in permanent black marker...
I am proud to announce that A recieved an award for reading improvement today. When they tested him in the beginning of 1st grade, he could only read 9 words in all. That probably included his name. The award he recieved states that he is now reading 41 words within the alloted testing time!!! We are SO proud of him!!! I'm so happy we ended up with a school that put him in the recovery program that could catch him up so well! We warned his teacher that he would be behind so she was quick acting and he pretty much started out the year in the reading recovery. So, he was able to progress well and end up where he is now!
The frustrating part is just thinking back on everything. If he was able to correct the problem so quickly now, this just proves how very much he missed last year. I know we can't go back and fix the problem, but I can't help but reflect on the issue for a minute. That teacher really didn't have a clue...
